At Burbank Bush Kindy Natural Childcare, we are committed to providing a nurturing, respectful and inspiring learning environment for children aged 15 months to 6 years. Our philosophy is grounded in nature-based pedagogy and the Forest School approach, recognizing that children learn best through exploration, curiosity and meaningful engagement with the natural world.

We believe that childhood should be rich with opportunities for wonder, discovery, creativity and independence. Through time spent outdoors and open-ended experiences, children are encouraged to explore, develop and build confidence in their abilities. We view children as capable, competent and active participants in their own learning, supporting their individual interests and strengths.

Nature is at the heart of our learning environment. Our outdoor spaces are thoughtfully designed using natural elements, recycled materials and loose parts, providing children with opportunities to create, experiment, build and connect with the living world around them. Using recycled and repurposed materials encourages creativity, problem-solving and environmental responsibility, while also helping children develop an understanding of sustainability and caring for the environment.

Our program supports the holistic development of every child, through experiences such as gardening, outdoor exploration, creative arts, storytelling, movement and mindfulness, children engage in meaningful learning that nurtures their development. Consistent daily rhythms and routines provide children with a sense of security and belonging while still allowing flexibility for spontaneous learning inspired by nature.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn and play and respect their ongoing connection to Country. We seek opportunities to introduce children to local knowledge and respect for the natural environment, fostering appreciation and care for the land around us.

Strong and respectful relationships are central to our practice. We believe children thrive when they feel safe, valued and connected. Through warm and responsive interactions and meaningful conversations, we support children to develop emotional awareness, empathy and compassion for others.

We value partnerships with families, recognising them as children’s first and most important teachers. By building open, respectful and collaborative relationships with families and the wider community, we create a strong sense of belonging and shared purpose in supporting children’s learning journeys.

At Burbank Bush Kindy, we are also committed to the ongoing growth and wellbeing of our educators. We foster a culture of reflection, collaboration and continuous professional learning, empowering educators to bring their authentic selves to their work and to model curiosity, kindness and respect.

Our mission is to create a safe, joyful and meaningful learning environment where children develop a strong sense of belonging, confidence and connection to the world around them. We aim for every child who spends time here to create happy memories of childhood, a love of nature and confidence in who they are.
